Juan Medina, a photographer, has documented the arrival of African migrants to the Canary Islands for a decade.
Amongst the photographs which have won him international acclaim are a series of a shipwreck at night, near the coast of Fuerteventura, in which eleven of the twenty-nine passengers lost their lives. We follow Juan with his photographs as he pieces together what happened and why, travelling to meet survivors and their families in Spain and Mali. This is a story of African migrants to Europe, informed by the deep experience and restless questioning of a frontline witness.
