JWP is an award-winning documentary production company with over 20 years of experience telling true stories on screen. In recent years we have been at the forefront of making ground-breaking series which combine rigorous journalistic principles, with cinematic, character-driven narratives to reach audiences globally.

WHAT WE DO

GLOBAL SERIES

Led by producer Sumpta Ayuso and director Justin Webster, JWP has created seven series for global release since 2015. These include The Pioneer (HBO), Death in León (Movistar/HBO), two seasons of Six Dreams (Amazon), Nisman (Netflix, ZDF, Movistar, DR), The Signing (Amazon, 3Cat), and Lucrecia (Disney+).

NON - FICTION

Our ideas and productions are based on the belief that true stories, told with creativity but without invention, can be as dramatic as fiction, and often more revealing.

CHARACTER-DRIVEN STORIES

The stories are all told through characters, using the present tense. If the story is set in the past, the narrative is crafted through investigation, interviews, reconstructions, and archival footage. If the story is unfolding, it is filmed in a vérité style, following the characters over months or years.

FEATURE DOCUMENTARIES

From 2002 JWP has produced award-winning feature documentaries through international co-productions with BBC, ZDF, PBS, TVC, ARTE, The Danish Film Institute and many other funds and broadcasters.

RANGE

Subjects have been as diverse as a geopolitical crime story, a portrait of a great artist, the rise and fall of a mafia figure, or the revelations that emerge from a murder trial.

AUDIENCES

Our projects are developed slowly, with productions often lasting several years. This approach is driven by a desire to discover truths, hone meaningful narratives, and captivate audiences.
